Dear Friend,
Good afternoon, and welcome to our
Weekend Update on Father's Day.
Before we begin with this update, Shelley and I, my family, and I’m
sure all Americans, are shocked and terribly saddened by the tragic,
ruthless, cold-blooded shooting of innocent public servants in
Minnesota. The incendiary rhetoric, hate, and violence must stop. My
family mourns and prays for the victims and families of this horrific
act.
Yesterday, I joined President Donald J. Trump to celebrate the
250th anniversary of the United States Army.
For 250 years, the Army has defended freedom, taken down
dictators, defeated the Nazis, and protected the American
people—spreading peace, democracy, and American strength across the
world.
Seeing our military’s history and technology on full display is a
powerful reminder of all we must be proud of. This was a celebration
of patriotism, service, and the greatest fighting force the world has ever
known.

Before the celebration, we attended a
reception at the White House. (Pictured below with Donald Trump
Jr.)

Earlier in the day, I conducted an
interview on NewsNation. Click

The “No Kings” protests are being framed
as anti-Trump, but they are, in truth, anti-American. These protests
are deliberately timed to counter a day when we celebrate our nation’s
Flag and honor the creation of the U.S. Army—a force that has defended
freedom at home and worldwide. That alone speaks volumes.
Let’s be clear about what this movement
represents: an agenda rooted in a vision of big government, federal
control, and contempt for the values that built this country. They
oppose school choice. They sneer at capitalism and free markets. They
want more spending, more federal employees, and more IRS agents—80,000
of them. Their party pushed H.R. 1, a federal takeover of our
elections. They treat the Constitution not as the rulebook that
created the greatest nation on Earth, but as a document they can alter
when it suits them.
The Left believes in the government,
while we believe in the people. While they push central control, we
champion limited government and individual freedom.
As we celebrate the birth of the United
States Army—an institution that secured liberty for our country, for
Europe, and for our allies—let’s also reject this cynical attempt to
undermine America’s founding values. The Declaration of Independence
was the “why.” The Constitution is the “how.” And we intend to defend
both.
I joined "Varney & Co." on Fox
Business to discuss. Click

The riots in Los Angeles are dangerous.
Thirty-seven hours before the National Guard arrived in Los Angeles,
cars were already burning, ICE agents and LAPD officers were being
assaulted, and federal buildings were being vandalized. Despite the
escalating violence, Governor Gavin Newsom failed to act. Law
enforcement was overwhelmed, and the situation grew more dangerous by
the hour.
President Donald J. Trump's decision to
deploy the National Guard was necessary to protect federal personnel
and property, and to restore order when state leaders would not. I
joined “Newsline” on Newsmax to discuss further. Click

I was happy to join EPA Administrator Lee
Zeldin to announce the proposed revision of two Biden-era energy
regulations, as part of the Powering the Great American Comeback
initiative. This five-pillar plan refocuses the EPA on air and water
quality, energy security, permitting reform, innovation, and global
competitiveness.
This action reflects a balanced,
responsible approach to deregulation that supports American energy
production, protects the environment, and delivers the certainty our
producers need after years of burdensome Biden-era rules that pushed
investment overseas and jeopardized our path to energy dominance.
As Administrator Zeldin emphasized, even
if finalized, no power plant will be allowed to emit more than it does
today or in recent years. The more energy we produce here at home, the
better for the planet—because no nation produces energy more
responsibly or with lower emissions than the United States.

During my interview on "Varney &
Co.," we discussed the proposed revisions.
As I said on air, we
can protect the environment and grow the economy. No country has
reduced emissions more than the United States, and the more energy we
produce here at home, the cleaner the world gets.

In President Trump’s first term, we had
pro-growth policies, a booming economy, and rising revenues. But the
Biden Administration’s unchecked spending doubled the deficit and
increased the debt service from $400 billion in 2019 to nearly $1
trillion last year.
Now, the White House and Congress are
taking action to restore fiscal accountability and rein in federal
agencies that irresponsibly spend American tax dollars.
I spoke on the House floor urging my
colleagues to pass the recissions package to codify President Trump’s
spending reductions into law. Click

Israel was right to defend itself by
launching strategic attacks on Iran's nuclear capabilities. The United
States must stand united with Israel as it combats these outside
forces who seek to wipe it off the map. I believe it's telling that
Israel is targeting nuclear and military installations, while Iran
targets civilians. I will always stand 100% behind Israel and its
citizens.

I also appeared on "The Volpe Report"
with our good friend, Chuck Volpe. This week, I was pleased to be
joined by the House Majority Leader Steve Scalise and Congressman Rob
Bresnahan. Click

IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE
MAINSTREAM MEDIA: America is beating inflation as President
Donald J. Trump leads the country into the new Golden Age with lower
costs, higher pay, and economic opportunity for all.
Here’s what you need to know from
the latest Consumer Price Index:
-
In May, inflation came in lighter
than expected for yet another month.
- Since President Trump took office, inflation has come in below
economists’ expectations every single month.
-
Core inflation held
steady and remains at the lowest level since
March 2021.
- Under President Trump, core inflation has tracked at just 2.0% on
an annual basis — levels not seen since the first Trump
Administration, when prices were low and stable.
-
Wage growth remains strong under President Trump.
- In May, real wages for production and nonsupervisory workers saw
the highest monthly increase in nearly a year — and have risen each
month since President Trump took office, up nearly 2% over last
year.
- The average private sector worker is on track to see their real
earnings increase by around $1,200, adjusted for inflation.
-
Prices for everyday Americans continue to fall.
- Energy prices fell by 1.0% over the last month — down 3.5% over
the past year.
- Gasoline prices have fallen each month since President Trump took
office, down 2.6% over the past month and down 12% over the past
year.
- Prices in key areas — such as meats, poultry, eggs, airfares, used
and new cars, and apparel — all went down over the past month.
Here’s what they’re
saying:
-
CNN’s
Matt Egan: “We got ANOTHER month of
positive inflation news. Despite these historic tariffs, the latest
numbers do show that inflation remained relatively tame in May … This
was better than expected … We did see a drop in energy prices. In
particular, gas prices were low.”
-
CNBC’s
Mike Santoli: “There’s no way to look at
these numbers and say they’re not welcome news.”
-
CNBC’s
Steve Liesman: “Not only did we get a
decline in inflation expectations earlier this week from the important
New York Fed report … I do not see broader impacts on inflation from
the tariffs.”
-
CNBC’s
Rick Santelli: “Inflation certainly
looks like it is cooling.”
-
Fox
Business Network’s Maria
Bartiromo: “That is much better than
expected.”
-
Commentator
Adam Johnson: “Now we’re talking about
numbers that are down in the low twos — under 2.5% — and we’re seeing
that now for three months in a row, so this is wonderful news.”
On Tuesday morning, I spoke before the
Financial Services Committee Republicans to support my bill, the
ACCESS Act of 2025. My bill keeps capital and future wealth in our
local communities, reduces red tape for the smallest of entrepreneurs,
and future-proofs regulation crowdfunding without sacrificing a single
investor safeguard. Click here or below to watch.

The Financial Services Committee
Republicans passed my ACCESS Act of 2025 with a unanimous 51-0 vote.
The bill cuts red tape for entrepreneurs looking to crowdfund by
raising the financial review threshold from $100,000 to $250,000, so
startups can spend less time on paperwork and more time building their
businesses. From neighborhood breweries to tech startups, this bill
helps Main Street access the capital they need to grow. Click
here or below to read more.

On Monday, I was pleased to be able to
attend a significant economic development announcement in Berwick,
where Amazon confirmed a major investment that’s been in the works for
more than three and a half years. In the past year, I've visited the
site four times to support this important project for data centers,
meeting with Amazon and local officials. I’m happy to see this
significant investment being made in our region. Always great to be
with our U.S. Senator Dave McCormick.

On Tuesday, I met with the Board of
Directors of the Consumer Bankers Association to discuss key financial
issues facing American consumers and small businesses.
We covered CFPB reform and ways to ensure
financial regulations don’t stifle innovation or access to capital. I
appreciated hearing directly from leaders at Citizens Bank, Truist,
Synchrony, U.S. Bank, Berkshire Bank, and CBA CEO Lindsey Johnson.
I’ll continue working to reduce
regulations, advance common-sense reforms to the CFPB, and advocate
for pro-growth policies that strengthen our economy and most
importantly, protect consumers.

Later, ahead of the Congressional
Baseball Game the following day, I want to thank the manager for
hosting a reception celebrating America’s pastime.
Since 1909, the Congressional Baseball
Game has brought Republicans and Democrats together in a bipartisan
tradition that supports a higher cause.
This event raises funds for scholarships
and outstanding organizations like the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater
Washington, Washington Nationals Philanthropies, and the Capitol
Police Memorial Fund, created in memory of the brave officers who
responded to the 2017 practice shooting.
Thank you, Chairman Williams, for your
efforts to keep this great tradition going—on and off the field.

I met with Americans for Prosperity
Pennsylvania on Wednesday to discuss the BBB.
This legislation permanently establishes
the 23% small business deduction (Section 199A), restores immediate
R&D expensing, and restores 100% bonus depreciation—all critical
for small businesses, manufacturers, and job creators.
These are pro-growth, pro-investment,
pro-America tax reforms—and I appreciate AFP-PA’s strong support of
the bill.

On Thursday, we recognized Women Veterans
Day. We commemorate the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act, signed
into law on this day in 1948, which allowed women to serve as
permanent, regular members of our Armed Forces.
We honor the
courage, sacrifice, and service of our women veterans. Your strength
and dedication have contributed greatly to the U.S. Armed Forces.
I met with Shannon Kellogg from Amazon
Web Services to discuss Amazon’s major investment in our region,
including AI data centers in Luzerne County.
Over the past
year, I’ve visited the site four times, meeting with Amazon, Talen
Energy, and local officials as the project developed. In today’s
meeting, we focused on job growth, trade policy, community impact, and
how AWS’s partnership with Talen will power the site with clean
nuclear energy.
This is an important investment for our
region and for the future of AI.

This week, I met with leadership from
Alterra Energy to discuss their planned $300 million investment in a
new advanced plastics recycling facility in Sugarloaf Township,
Luzerne County.
The project will create 100 new high-quality
jobs and hundreds more in construction. Alterra’s innovative chemical
recycling technology will help convert hard-to-recycle plastics into
valuable materials—supporting both economic growth and environmental
sustainability.

On Thursday, Shelley and I enjoyed
attending the White House Congressional Picnic with President Trump.
It was a great opportunity to spend time with friends and colleagues,
including Cabinet members and senior administration officials who are
focused on delivering real results for the American people.
Grateful to the President and First
Family for hosting a wonderful evening on the South Lawn.

On Saturday, we marked three important
events... Flag Day and the 250th Birthday of the U.S. Army.
On Flag Day, we honor Old Glory, a symbol
of our nation’s unity, freedom, and sacrifice—created right here in
Pennsylvania.
Let’s proudly wave the Stars and Stripes, remembering the heroes
who defended it and the values it represents.
As we discussed earlier, we also marked
the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army. Our soldiers are among the best
in the world and have defended America’s freedom for centuries.
Pictured are soldiers from the Fort
Indiantown Gap Army National Guard Training Center, located in Lebanon
County.
Join me in saluting our Army heroes!

Lastly, we commemorated President Trump's
birthday. Shelley and I were fortunate enough to celebrate with the
President at the White House.

Last but certainly not least, I wish
everyone a Happy Father's Day. I especially want to wish my father,
Stan, a great day and thank him for all the love, support, and lessons
he has given me throughout my life.
My wife, Shelley, and I feel incredibly blessed to be so close to
our three children. We are so proud of each of them and love them very
much. Being their father is the best gift I have ever received. I wish
all the dads across the 9th Congressional District a Happy Father’s
Day.
(Pictured below are my three children, Jacqueline, Caroline,
and Danny)

May God continue to bless our nation. I
look forward to seeing you soon,

Dan
