Today, I wanted to take a moment to send you a longer, personal message about my father, my kids, and why I’m fighting so hard to stop Donald Trump. My family moved here from India when I was a baby in search of the American Dream. My parents worked incredibly hard to give us a better life, but when my father suddenly lost his income, we fell on hard times.  So, we lived for a time in Public Housing to keep a roof over our heads and depended on SNAP to eat. That’s something I’ll never take for granted. To this day, my father always tells me: “Think of the greatness of this country. Whatever you do, make sure this country is there for the next families who need it”. That’s always been my North Star, my personal compass, my ‘why,’ my mission statement. But now, all of that is under threat. Brown children (like my own) are being ripped from their parents. The National Guard and Marines are being deployed against US Citizens. Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” will slash the social safety net to the tune of TRILLIONS of dollars. Republicans will kick MILLIONS of the most vulnerable Americans off their healthcare and food assistance. That means kids like me won’t have food on the table or a doctor when they get sick.
My father’s example has always inspired me. But now, as a father myself, I’m more determined than ever to stand up to bullies like Donald Trump who want to force kids to go hungry, lose their parents, and take away their health care just so his billionaire buddies can get even more tax breaks.  As you can tell, this fight is deeply personal to me. I’m going to fight Donald Trump and his corrupt cronies with everything I have. But I can’t do it alone. John — we need to flip the Senate blue to stop Trump and his cruelty. But that’s going to be a tough and expensive fight.
