The Trump administration attempts to reopen 13 million acres
for Arctic drilling
The administration is trying to get rid of vital protections
for Alaska’s Western Arctic — all as a massive public lands
giveaway to Big Oil billionaires.
Nearly 150,000 supporters like you helped secure these
protections last year. We will not let them go without a fight.
Submit your public comment now!

Dear NRDC Activist,
The Trump administration just unleashed yet another assault
on Arctic wildlands: They proposed stripping vital protections
for 13 million acres in Alaska's Western Arctic, opening the
nation's largest intact landscape to reckless oil and gas
operations.
These are the same safeguards that nearly 150,000 NRDC
supporters like you helped win last year. We cannot let these
crucial protections go without a fight.
The administration is seeking public comments on their
proposal. We must flood them with messages opposing
climate-busting drilling in the Western Arctic. ( [link removed] )
Interior Secretary Doug Burgum has referred to the nation's
public lands as assets on "America's balance sheet." And his
agency is attempting to privatize our public lands to fast-track
oil, gas, and other destructive corporate projects under the
guise of a "National Energy Emergency." But the U.S. is not in an
energy emergency — we're the world's leading producer of oil and
gas.
This is just the latest in a massive public lands giveaway
to oil giants like ConocoPhillips, which has been creating a hub
for fossil fuel development in the Arctic.
Meanwhile, our Arctic ecosystem and the life it supports
pay the price. Grizzly and polar bears, caribou, rare birds, and
other wildlife species rely on Western Arctic lands for survival.
More oil drilling in the Arctic will only lock us into more
and more fossil fuel addiction in a region that is warming more
than four times faster than the rest of the world — stopping
drilling here is a key step to avert climate catastrophe.
We must do everything in our power to stop the
administration from giving corporations free rein to exploit the
Arctic, causing irreparable destruction. Submit your public
comment now. ( [link removed] )
NRDC's legal team is considering every one of our options
to fight back against threats in the Arctic. NRDC's lawsuit
challenging the first Trump administration's unlawful attempt to
open the Arctic Refuge to drilling is still in the courts, and
our affiliated 501(c)(4) organization the NRDC Action Fund is
fighting in Congress to block legislative attacks on fundamental
Arctic protections.
In the meantime, we need your help to mobilize a massive
public outcry in defense of the Western Arctic.
We cannot stay silent now. Our public lands are for all of
us, not for corporate polluters.
Tell the administration that the Western Arctic is not for
sale. ( [link removed] )
Sincerely,
Bobby McEnaney
