John,
Again, to make it abundantly clear, since this is sadly not the first time we've had to say this: We condemn political violence in any form.
We know the people receiving this email likely know that and agree, but we're stating it again for the record. The recent attempted and successful assassinations in Minnesota by a man masquerading as a police officer are chilling. Our hearts go out to the families of the victims, and we hope they can find some solace in the coming days.
Like we've said before, when this has happened -- despite whatever legitimate political or policy differences any of us might have with any elected official, candidate, or advocacy group -- violence, like what happened in Minnesota, is never the answer.
Voter Action Project is going dark today out of respect for the victims of this weekend's terrible act. Our work to defend the right to vote will of course continue, but for now, please take the time to think about those lost, those clinging to life with critical injuries, and their family members.
Onward,
The Voter Action Project Team
