Happy Flag Day—and happy birthday to President Donald J. Trump!

While Democrats are gathering today to protest, we’re standing tall for the America First agenda: defending our values, securing the border, and fighting for working families. 

Thom had a busy and impactful week. He worked alongside Senate Republicans to advance the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which builds on President Trump’s historic tax cuts, expands support for small businesses, and restores fiscal sanity in Washington. He also continued to push back on reckless spending and harmful tax hikes that could hurt North Carolina families and farmers. 

And with Father’s Day coming up tomorrow, we want to take a moment to say thank you to all the incredible dads across North Carolina and the country. Raising the next generation of proud and patriotic Americans is an important job, and your leadership matters.

Standing With Israel: Thom Doubles Down On His Support For Our Greatest Ally

On Thursday, Israel launched a large-scale military operation against Iran, targeting more than 100 sites linked to Iran’s nuclear program and military leadership. In response, Iran fired missiles and drones at Israel, many of which were intercepted. This marks one of the most serious escalations in the region in years. 

President Trump responded by praising Israel’s actions, calling the strikes “excellent” and warning that Iran needs to come to the table before things get worse. 

Here’s what Thom had to say about the situation on X:

“Iran is a terrorist state that is determined to build and use nuclear weapons to wipe Israel off the map. Israel has the right to take action to prevent that from happening. The United States stands with our friend Israel. 🇺🇲🇮🇱”

In the face of growing global threats, Thom has been a strong voice for Israel’s right to defend itself following the recent strike. As chaos grows abroad, now more than ever, America must stand with our allies and project strength on the world stage. 

In The News: Thom Pens Op-ed About Tax Relief and Trump’s Agenda for The Hill

The Hill published an op-ed by Thom highlighting the critical importance of passing the One Big Beautiful Bill Act—legislation that would deliver on President Trump’s promise to supercharge the economy and restore American strength at home and abroad. 

As the op-ed explains, the House-passed bill includes major wins for working families and small businesses: it extends the Trump tax cuts, increases the child tax credit, expands deductions for small businesses, invests in border security, and enacts the most ambitious welfare reform in a generation. 

But Thom also outlined how the Senate must strengthen this bill further. That includes cutting unnecessary spending, eliminating the costly SALT deduction increase that benefits wealthy blue-state residents, and removing hidden tax hikes (like the proposed tobacco tax) that could hurt North Carolina farmers. 

This legislation is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to deliver meaningful tax relief, safeguard benefits for those in need, and power American economic growth for years to come. 
As Thom put it: “Do not let perfect become the enemy of the good.” Now is the time to get this done—for the American people and the future of our country.

Legislative Highlight: Thom Introduces Bipartisan Legislation to Establish Senate NATO Observer Group

On Tuesday, Thom helped introduce bipartisan legislation to formally establish the Senate NATO Observer Group (SNOG) as a permanent body within the Senate, dedicated to advising and engaging on all matters related to NATO. 

This legislation reflects Thom’s ongoing commitment to strengthen America’s role in the transatlantic alliance and ensure continued bipartisan support for NATO. As global threats grow, this legislation ensures Congress plays an active, informed role in shaping U.S. engagement with NATO and its member countries. As Thom said, “The importance of NATO to American security and global stability cannot be overstated.”
