This country doesn’t belong to a king. It belongs to us — the people.

Today, Trump will roll literal tanks through D.C. He’s wasting a hundred million taxpayer dollars to celebrate himself like some third-rate dictator. He’s doing it because he didn’t get to do this during his last term. And he wants nothing more than to feel loved. Because he’s a sad, lonely little man who’s making it the rest of the country’s problem.

So we’re out here doing what Americans do best: fighting back with nonviolent protest and massive people power.

We will be here with joy. But don’t mistake our peaceful protest for weakness or ignorance. We understand the seriousness of this situation. We understand exactly how dangerous a position our country is in. We’re just not down to stoop to Trump’s level of hating every single thing about the world and scaring others into hating it, too.

Today is our rejection of Trump’s dreams of sitting on a throne. Because if Donald Trump thinks he can crown himself king and we’ll stay silent, he’s got another thing coming.

Trump is patting himself on the back, happy to have this stupid parade celebrating his birthday while our veterans are being kicked off their benefits. While he's saluting the flag, he's slashing Medicaid and giving handouts to billionaires. While he’s pretending to honor our country and our military, he’s attacking our schools, our journalists, our judges, our democracy, and using that military to occupy one of our largest and greatest cities.

He’s not a leader. He is a loser. He is a wannabe dictator with a spray tan.

We’re here today. Each of us is here because we believe in something better. We believe in dignity. In freedom. In democracy. We believe no one, no matter how rich, how loud, or how armed, gets to rule us without our consent.

We believe in no thrones. We believe in no crowns. And we believe in NO KINGS.

To Donald Trump: No matter how many cities you occupy, no matter how many tanks you roll down the streets, no matter how much you tweet, you can’t scare us into silence. You can’t march us into submission. You can’t throw a parade big enough to make us forget what you've done.

Keep marching. Keep mocking this asshole until every street echoes our message: AMERICA HAS NO KINGS.

Stay safe. Stay peaceful. And stay vigilant.
