Trump's imposition of Fascism on America began on June 8 when he ordered California's National Guard to suppress peaceful protests in Los Angeles against cruel ICE raids - without consulting Governor Gavin Newsom, who commands the California National Guard.
Trump then escalated his Fascist assault by ordering 700 Marines to help suppress the peaceful protests without invoking the Insurrection Act - in violation of the Posse Comitatus Act which prohibits military deployments against civilians in the U.S.
On Thursday, Senator Alex Padilla (D-CA) clearly identified himself and tried to ask DHS Secretary Kristi Noem a question at her press conference. He was thrown to the ground, handcuffed, and nearly arrested - and Noem went on FOX News to lie about it.
Padilla connected his own assault to the assault on non-white workers everywhere.
If this is how the Department of Homeland Security responds to a senator with a question, you can only imagine what they’re doing to farm workers, to cooks, to day laborers out in the Los Angeles community and throughout California and throughout the country. We will hold this administration accountable.
Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-NY), who chairs the Congressional Black Caucus, rightfully declared Trump's actions an impeachable offense. But not a single Republican in Congress opposes Trump's fascism, so impeachment will have to wait until we elect a Democratic House majority next November.
Until then, we must protest in the streets. So let's make TODAY's No Kings protests the largest in American history. Find a protest near you and bring an American flag to show Trump and MAGA that WE ARE THE TRUE AMERICAN PATRIOTS.
