[1]Tammy Duckworth
I spoke to the Secretary of the Army about today’s parade in Washington, D.C.
He said that “you only get to celebrate the 250th birthday of the Army once.”
Wouldn’t it better celebrate the 250th birthday of the Army to spend that $30 million on military families’ childcare?
Or to save Veterans’ jobs?
Or to provide better access to healthcare for Veterans?
I’m insulted, and I bet some of you are too.
This parade has nothing to do with celebrating the United States Army, and it has everything to do with Donald Trump’s fragile ego.
I shared these legitimate concerns with the Secretary, but there’s power in numbers, so I’m asking for your support as well.
Please join me in condemning this wasteful, theatrical show of power in our Nation’s Capital. Our Veterans deserve better than for their resources to be thrown away on petty birthday parades.
