Dear friend,
Early Voting starts today for the New York City primary! Find Your Poll Site Here
There are many citywide races and a democratic primary in almost every City Council seat that overlaps with my Senate District. I’m supporting some amazing candidates who I have a strong record of working with to better our communities.
For Mayor, I hope you will rank my good friends Brad Lander and Zellnor Myrie #1 and #2 on your ballot. This is our second electoral cycle using Rank Choice Voting, which gives us an opportunity to support and rank multiple candidates for Mayor. Brad and Zellnor both have a strong track record of sticking to their values and delivering meaningful results for NYC and either would make an excellent Mayor. I’ve also been very impressed by Adrienne Adams’ campaign, and recommend ranking her as well.
These candidates have the best platform and message to counter former Governor Cuomo’s candidacy. I urge you to fill out your full ballot and not to rank Andrew Cuomo. Despite him running on his record of being a skilled manager and effective administrator, there are many examples where he missed the mark on issues important to me and to this city, including mass transit, CUNY, mental health, and Medicaid. Furthermore, Cuomo’s lack of accountability for mistakes made during Covid, including covering up the death toll in nursing homes, and the substantiated claims by multiple women of sexual harassment raises serious questions of integrity for me.
For NYC Comptroller, I am proudly supporting my good friend Justin Brannan. Justin has shown up for us, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. He is running for City Comptroller to keep getting things done for our City and I can not think of a more qualified candidate to be our fiscal watchdog and hold our future Mayor accountable.
There are other crucial elections that can determine the future of our communities. I hope you will rank these candidates Number 1:
Jumaane Williams for NYC Public Advocate
Kayla Santosuosso for Council District 43
Alexa Aviles for Council District 38
Shahana Hanif for Council District 39
Lincoln Restler for Council District 33
This election is critically important. Leadership is first and foremost about integrity. The leaders we choose right now will set the agenda for the future of our city.
Elections all come down to turnout, which means every vote counts. Please go to your nearest polling place to vote starting TODAY and make sure to remind your neighbors, friends, and family to do the same!
Happy voting!
