Today, Donald Trump is throwing himself a military parade to celebrate his own birthday, wasting $45 million in taxpayer money to glorify himself.

This is hallmark authoritarianism.

All across the country, Americans are standing up and saying enough. They’re fed up with Trump trampling the Constitution, slashing Medicaid and SNAP to pay for billionaire tax breaks, and treating public office like his personal kingdom.

I served in the Army for over 25 years. I lost my military career defending democracy. And I can tell you firsthand: This is not patriotism — it’s dangerous, disrespectful, and deeply un-American. Trump doesn’t respect our troops. He’s called them “suckers” and “losers,” and he’s threatened their benefits and livelihoods with his reckless executive orders.

We cannot let this stand.

If there was ever a day to rise up and show Trump that grassroots Americans are ready to take him on and put an end to his unchecked power, it’s today.
