Flo was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer at just 22 months old. Rich, her father, will never forget the devastating moment they discovered a tumor the size of a softball.

This Father’s Day, we’re recognizing incredible dads like Rich, who do everything possible to help their child fight a critical illness. Throughout Flo’s treatment — which included brain surgery just a week after her diagnosis, multiple rounds of chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant — Rich was right by his daughter’s side. Florence lost her 2s and 3s to cancer, but Rich never stopped accompanying her to the chemo floor with the hope that she would heal and recover.

Flo’s wish was to create a farm-themed playground for her preschool, a place where she and other children could play, explore and imagine. The community came together to make this wish a reality, building a space that was immediately cherished by all the kids and parents. 

Like Rich’s hopeful attitude, wishes can and do make a positive impact on a child’s medical journey.
