Identify a local nonprofit that supports veterans. Whether it’s a shelter offering transitional housing, a legal clinic helping navigate VA claims, or a food bank running a special program for veterans, these groups are often under-resourced and overburdened.
Here are a few things you can do:
-
Volunteer for a shift or sign up to help at an upcoming event.
-
Make a donation to cover urgent needs like transportation or hygiene kits.
-
Ask how your workplace or community group can sponsor a project or drive.
3. Reach Out to a Veteran In Your Life.
Sometimes the most powerful action is a personal one. If there’s a veteran in your life like a family member, coworker, neighbor, or friend, take a few minutes to reach out. Ask how they’re doing. Let them know you care. Veterans have earned their right to be heard.
If they’ve been affected by recent cuts, encourage them to share their story with VoteVets’ tipline. Submit a story to VoteVets’ Tipline here.
Bonus: Spread the Word
We need more people to understand what’s really happening to our veterans in this country — and how Democrats are stepping up to fight back. Share content on social media and in your networks to lift up the truth about Trump’s attacks on veterans and what Democrats are doing to protect them.
