Team, I can’t believe I said that — We cannot build bananas in America. What’s worse, I can’t believe I HAD to say that. But I did!

ICYMI — During a recent congressional hearing, I questioned Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick about the impact of Trump’s tariffs on food prices, particularly on bananas. Walmart, for example, has already increased the price of bananas by 8%.

“If you build in America, if you produce your product in America, there will be no tariff,” Lutnick insisted. I had to tell him: We cannot build bananas in the United States 🤦‍♀️

THAT’S bananas, right? I thought I was losing it. But that really happened.

Friends, we need more serious people in Congress. Not MAGA Republicans who agree with every ludicrous idea President Trump comes up with, and who have no real plans to make anything work. It would be funny if it weren’t sending us barreling toward a recession.

I’m using my platform in Congress to push back — sometimes just stating the simple truth in the face of their ignorance reveals how dangerous they are for our families.
