Dear John,

Recently, my colleague Sabrina reached out to you with an update on HIAS’ work
in Ecuador. With World Refugee Day now just a few days away, I wanted to share
with you what we’re doing in Chad for refugees from Darfur, Sudan and the
Central African Republic facing incredible hardships from COVID-19.

Right now, overcrowding and lack of sanitation in refugee camps in Chad have put
refugee families at heightened risk of contracting COVID-19. As markets reopen
in the eastern camps, without protective measures like masks or stations for
people to wash their hands, the pandemic is likely to worsen.

That’s why HIAS Chad is doing everything we can to provide refugees with vital
assistance during this immensely challenging time. Our work is critical for
those who have escaped violence and persecution and now face unprecedented
dangers from this global health crisis. So in honor of World Refugee Day, we
hope you’ll step up now to support refugees in Chad and around the world:

We understand this is a difficult time. If you are able, please give
$18 or more today in honor of World Refugee Day to provide
critical support to refugees and asylum seekers in their quest for safety and
freedom.

to provide food, hygiene kits and other resources. We are also working to ensure
COVID-19 procedures and guidelines are being respected, including hand washing
and social distancing, and are providing families with critical information on
how they can keep themselves safe from COVID-19.

HIAS is fully committed to supporting those who have fled unimaginable danger in
search of peace and safety. And as the need for our work continues to grow
during this pandemic, we’d like to ask you one more time to consider making a
donation today:

If you can, please make a contribution of $18 or more for
World Refugee Day to provide refugees and asylum seekers with assistance to
rebuild their lives in safety.

Thanks for all you do to support refugees and asylum seekers.
