The season begins on June 17th at 5:30 pm [ [link removed] ] with a panel at the Laramie County Library that will highlight local high school students in conversation with civic superheroes Melissa Martin, Marguerite Herman, JoLynn Paulsen, and Milward Simpson. It culminates with the Civic Season Festival [ [link removed] ] on Wednesday, July 2, from 5:30 - 8:00 pm on the Wyoming State Museum grounds.

Civic Season [ [link removed] ] is a new American tradition encouraging people to go beyond hotdogs and fireworks to dive deep into our nation's democracy, identity, and future. Each of our Civic Season events is designed as an entry point into civic engagement, utilizing games, community debates, teenage speakers, pizza parties, and even live music to create fun and inviting environments for civic education and exploration.

2024 's Volunteer of the Year

Evan Green

________________________________________________________________________

You may recognize Evan Green from his ever-popular “Firearms Friday” videos, which have reached over 700,000 views on YouTube! Evan not only presents on various histories and topics related to our permanent gun collection but also researches them. He has shared his expertise with other Wyoming and Colorado museums, increasing his and the museum’s impact around the region. Evan has also helped build our firearm collection here at the museum, helping us research and acquire new donations.

We are incredibly grateful for the time (over 800 hours each year!), care, and enthusiasm he brings to our collections and the museum. Thank you, Evan!

New Donation!

Items from Maven Outdoor Equipment Company

________________________________________________________________________

We want to give a big “Thank You” to Maven Outdoor Equipment Company [ [link removed] ] for their generous donation of binoculars, t-shirts, hats, and other items for the State Museum’s permanent artifact collection.

Maven was founded in 2013 in Lander, Wyoming, and is a successful business today. The founders set out to build an optics company around quality and high performance. By building Maven around a direct-to-consumer business model, they introduced products that compete with the major European brands, all while eliminating retail markup from stores. Maven products are highly regarded in the optics sector. We are pleased to represent a homegrown Wyoming company’s products in the collections.
