Great News for the Lower Snake River Dams

Image

Yesterday, President Donald Trump signed a memorandum revoking the Biden administration's executive actions targeting the Lower Snake River dams.

The President's actions revoke the Biden Administration’s “Restoring Healthy and Abundant Salmon, Steelhead, and Other Native Fish Populations in the Columbia River Basin” Memorandum which would have threatened the reliability of our power grid, raised energy prices, and decimated our ability to export grain to foreign markets.

Throughout my time in Congress, I have stood firm in my support for the Lower Snake River Dams and the critical role they play in our region’s economy. I thank the President for his decisive action to protect our dams, and I look forward to continuing to work with the administration for the benefit of the Fourth District.

House Votes to Rein in Spending

Image

On Thursday, the House voted on a rescissions package to rescind $9.4 billion of wasteful spending and save taxpayer dollars.

The United States is $36 trillion in debt, and while I do not agree with every aspect of the package, I recognize the importance of reducing the federal government’s spending.

As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I will work to ensure future legislation funding the government provides PBS the resources it needs to deliver unbiased and educational programming throughout Central Washington.

Standing with Israel

Image

Last night, Israel took military action against Iran in response to Iran's developing nuclear program and news of a new uranium enrichment facility being built to assemble nuclear weapons.

Iran has been warned for years against developing nuclear weapons. Since they refuse to accept a deal with the United States, Israel took matters into their own hands for the sake of their national security. Iran should immediately end their nuclear program and seriously consider the consequences before retaliating against U.S. installations in the region.

Funding U.S. National Security

This week, the House Appropriations Committee passed the Fiscal Year 2026 Defense Appropriations Act to fund the Department of Defense.

The legislation invests in America’s military superiority, shapes a more efficient and effective Department of Defense, protects from threats at America’s border, and takes care of our troops and their families.

The bill is ready to be considered by the full House of Representatives.

Congressional Baseball Game for Charity

Image

On Wednesday, Republicans and Democrats gathered for the annual Congressional Baseball Game for Charity, where Republicans took home the trophy with a 13-2 victory.

The game raised $2.81 million for local charities, including the Tim Johnson Memorial Fund, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington and Washington Nationals Philanthropies. More than 30,000 tickets were sold for the event held at Nationals Park, where Republicans and Democrats put their policy differences aside for a good cause.

Celebrating Our Art Competition Winner

Image

I had the pleasure of meeting Jackeline Arellano, Washington Fourth District's winner in the Congressional Art Competition.

Her winning entry, Dew Drops of Life, will be hung in the U.S. Capitol alongside winning entries from congressional districts across the country for one year.
