Hey, John!

Father’s Day is coming up, and I’ve been reflecting on the way my dad — and the men in my life — have shown up. Not just with words, but through action. Leading with love, protecting their families, and showing my sister and me what it means to be responsible for something bigger than ourselves.

My dad is an organizer at heart. In the 1960s, he led student protests for representation, curriculum reform, and the establishment of an African American Studies department. As a lawyer, he organized his peers to establish a code of conduct that named discrimination and sexual harassment as professional misconduct.

He always told us: “Good, better, best. Never let it rest until your good is better and your better best.” He believed doing your best wasn’t just personal — it was political. If you see room for change, you make it.

This Father’s Day, as we witness families being torn apart by raids and powerful forces trying to erase our history, we honor the fathers and father figures who lead with integrity, and recommit ourselves to doing our best in the service of justice.

Now, let’s take a look at what we’ve been up to:

🌟 We’re so proud of our My School Votes graduates! 🎓 These students have spent the year leading with purpose, organizing their peers, and building a culture of civic engagement in their schools and communities. We can’t wait to see the change they will do next. Want to see them shine? Head to My School Votes Instagram [[link removed]] to celebrate their accomplishments.✨📲

🌟 We showed up and showed out at World Pride in DC! [[link removed]] 🏳️‍🌈 From passing out voting merch to having real conversations about what’s at stake this election season, we connected with people from all walks of life who are ready to make their voices heard. Whether it was at the parade, the festival grounds, or just walking through the city, we reminded our community that every vote counts — and that LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive freedom, racial justice, and so much more are on the ballot.

Til next time,
— Beth
