In case you missed it: Yesterday, California Senator Alex Padilla was tackled, handcuffed, and forcibly removed from a Kristi Noem press conference.

We know from video that the first thing he did when entering the room was say his name and identify himself — blowing a hole in DHS’s explanation that he was “unidentified”.

The problem is not just that this happened to a sitting senator. The problem is that if Trump and his cronies were comfortable enough to tackle and detain an elected representative in broad daylight, what does that mean they’re comfortable doing to regular Americans?

I was raised in the Civil Rights Movement. It would be easy right now to back down, shut my mouth, and stay quiet – but I wasn’t raised to sit down and keep quiet.

As things get darker, it’s our jobs to speak up even louder, to not let Trump go unchecked, and to fight even harder.

If you feel like you want to do something but are at a loss for what to do, you can make a contribution towards my campaign right now – because stopping Trump and his power means getting Democrats elected and retaking our majority.
