Hi JohnWhat happened to Senator Alex Padilla is deeply disturbing — and a warning sign we can’t ignore.

Video shows Senator Padilla clearly identifying himself as a sitting U.S. Senator — only to be shoved, handcuffed, and silenced by federal agents. His aide was even blocked from recording the incident.

This is not normal. This is not acceptable. And this is not how a democracy operates.

Let me be clear: what happened to Senator Padilla can happen to any American. If we fail to speak out now, we risk normalizing the use of force to silence oversight and dissent.

I’m calling on my Republican colleagues to condemn this abuse of power. We cannot allow political intimidation and authoritarian tactics to take root in our country.
