On Tuesday, I met with President Trump's nominee for the Ambassador to the United Nations (UN), Michael Waltz. Waltz and I have been friends for a long time. We served in the House of Representatives together for four years, and I worked closely with him when he served as President Trump's National Security Advisor. Now, he's been promoted to serve as the president's Ambassador to the UN, requiring Senate confirmation.
I pledged early on to support all of President Trump's highly-qualified nominees, and Waltz embodies exactly what we need to stand for 'Peace through Strength' policies at the UN. He'll stand up to China, work to end forever wars, and push 'America First' values on the world stage. I look forward to supporting his confirmation.
On Thursday, I joined President Trump for his signing of my bill to support the auto and fuel industry. You may recall that three weeks ago, the GOP Senate successfully passed my resolution to stop California from trying to impose Green New Scam policies on the rest of America. Today we put a stop to California’s costly and extreme Green New Deal agenda that has bankrupted families, created a competitive disadvantage for manufacturers, and eliminated consumer choice for hundreds of millions of American families. Unlike his predecessor, President Trump won't cave to California and the radical left's attempts to control the market.
At the signing, the President was kind enough to share a few words about my role as a fighter for the MAGA agenda in Congress. I want to thank President Trump for inviting me to the White House for the signing this week, and for setting such an aggressive pace to deliver big wins for American voters.
We're wrapping up the week here in Washington and my Senate GOP colleagues and I are continuing to talk through and negotiate the president's "One, Big, Beautiful Bill."
We have three different ways in which we can make DOGE cuts permanent: Reconciliation (aka ‘One Big, Beautiful Bill’), the appropriations process, and rescissions. In this week’s rundown, I explain everything it takes to get our fiscal house in order.
