Trump is claiming a “60 Minutes” edit of an interview with Vice President Harris was “deceptive.” Paramount may settle to clear the way for a lucrative merger, causing irreparable harm to itself and the First Amendment rights of all journalists and Americans.
We won’t let it happen. As a Paramount shareholder, we’ve already put the company’s officers and directors on notice. If they cave to Trump’s demands, we’ll sue. And it’s been widely reported that Paramount higher-ups are worried about lawsuits like ours.
Legal fights like this are different — and more expensive — than our usual advocacy strategies. Since we’d file this lawsuit as a shareholder, we won’t recover a dime — any damages the lawsuit recovers from Paramount bosses go right back to the company. And so we’re relying on grassroots supporters like you to help us hold the line for press freedom.
