Democrat,

Congratulations to our next governor Mikie Sherrill on her primary win! Since her first-ever run for office in 2018 when she flipped a GOP-held seat, Mikie has brought New Jerseyans together across party lines and stood up against extremism at every turn. No one has fought harder for New Jersey than Mikie to bring down costs, protect access to healthcare, and fight back against Donald Trump’s harmful policies. Let’s come together to get her elected this November.

Thank you to everyone who spent the last few months knocking doors and making phone calls for all of our primary candidates and assembly members. New Jersey Democrats have the enthusiasm and the infrastructure to reach voters across this state to ensure we win big this fall and defeat MAGA loyalist Jack Ciattarelli.

Ciattarelli has made clear he’ll do or say anything to get elected. This time around, that means groveling for the support of Donald Trump and MAGA world after rejecting it in the past, and it means standing by while we lose billions in healthcare funding every year thanks to Trump’s budget. We need a leader who will put New Jerseyans first. Mikie Sherrill is that governor, and we’re ready to fight to make sure she takes office.

— Chairman LeRoy J. Jones, Jr.

The inhumane, and often without due process, ICE raids throughout the country underscore how critical it is we elect a governor who will stand up to Donald Trump. Trump’s administration has ramped up arrests of immigrants with a disturbing new push to increase deportations, sparking the protests we see now. Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth are now sending marines into LA to stop the protests, concerning local police because of their lack of training interacting with civilians.

The White House has pushed ICE to meet mass deportation goals, even if it means cutting corners and violating people’s rights. Let’s make it clear, this is NOT about enforcing the rule of law. It is about cruelty. It is about instilling fear. ICE is under immense pressure to make arrests, even at the risk of making mistakes that affect people’s lives. The agency is currently staggering shifts so agents are available seven days a week to meet arrest goals and is pulling resources away from crucial tasks like human trafficking investigations. They’re even asking the public to report illegal immigration, fueling fear and distrust.

Claim:

Trump claims that phasing out FEMA will somehow be beneficial to states.

The Truth:

The reality is FEMA plays a critical role year-round in keeping communities safe and rebuilding them when disaster strikes. Cutting corners with disaster relief isn’t smart policy—it’s dangerous. It will also put greater financial strain on towns, states, and individual families after lives were upended by floods, fires, or other extreme weather events.

Impact on New Jersey:

This is a direct attack on states like New Jersey, which face hurricanes and other natural disasters regularly. FEMA relief played a critical role in helping our state bounce back from weather events like Hurricane Sandy and Ida. If Trump phases out FEMA, New Jersey will be left scrambling when disaster strikes, unable to get the federal aid it needs to protect residents.

The Democratic Base is Energized for Mikie

Labor leader Patricia Campos-Medina wrote an inspiring piece that I encourage all of you to read, highlighting how New Jersey Democrats are energized and united this primary season. Her piece speaks to the strength of our party and the core values that bind us: fighting for workers, healthcare for all, a fair economy, and a commitment to human rights. With Mikie Sherrill as our nominee, we are united in our mission to keep New Jersey a beacon of progress and resistance against the forces of division.

NJ Congressmembers Defending Immigrant Communities

Two weeks ago, Trump’s attempt to target sanctuary cities in New Jersey backfired. The list, full of inaccuracies, was a political move to intimidate local governments protecting immigrants. Congressmembers McIver, Watson Coleman, and Menendez, who fought to provide oversight at Delaney Hall ICE Detention Center last month, are continuing to stand firm against Trump’s chaotic overreach. In their letter to top Trump officials, they are pushing back on the administration’s attack on our cities and values.

DNC Chair Ken Martin’s Visit to New Jersey

Last weekend, we had the incredible privilege of welcoming DNC Chair Ken Martin to New Jersey. His visit is part of his “organize everywhere, win anywhere” strategy – a new four-year agreement to deliver more resources into Democratic state and territory parties than ever before – delivering on Chair Martin’s commitment to turbocharging investments in on-the-ground organizing and party building. All eyes are on New Jersey this year with our incredibly important gubernatorial race and we appreciate the Chair’s support in our efforts to defeat MAGA loyalist Jack Ciattarelli.

The General Election season has begun. Now is the time for Democrats to stay engaged and share our message—one conversation at a time.
