John –
As we close out this second week of my Senate campaign (time's gone by fast!) I wanted to share with you my interview from a few days ago with Brian Tyler Cohen.
I joined him for a conversation about the highly competitive Senate race that's emerging here in Iowa, even as many national observers had written off the state for Democrats.
I talked about how in my past races, running on a proud Iowa-first, pro-universal health care, anti-monopoly message has helped me connect with people that too many politicians take for granted. It's how I represent a State House district that Trump won and how I came just 3 points shy of flipping a U.S. House seat that Trump won by 27 percent.
We're going to beat Joni Ernst by reaching out to the barbers, the baristas, the bartenders, the servers, the farmers, and the stylists – working folks who would be on our side but who feel neglected by our system and choose not to vote.
I'm fired up to build a grassroots campaign that transforms the electorate and shows the entrenched interests just how powerful ordinary people can be.
There's no doubt we face a big challenge getting over the finish line, but I'm not in this fight because it's easy; I'm in this fight because it's necessary. Because right now, we are literally fighting to keep Iowans alive while "leaders" like Joni Ernst try to close our hospitals and cut food aid and health care.
When you have the chance, I hope you can watch my full interview with Brian Tyler Cohen. And when you're done, share it with a few friends!

Thanks so much,
J.D.
