Dear Friends,
Last night, the Netanyahu government unilaterally struck Iran, damaging a
nuclear facility and assassinating top Iranian military leaders and
nuclear scientists.
Iran responded swiftly, launching at least a hundred drones that the IDF
has intercepted.
What might come next – and the toll it could take on innocent Israelis and
Iranians – is deeply disturbing.
Today, we’re convening a roundtable of expert panelists to share their
insights with the J Street community. We’ll discuss the attack, the
ramifications for the region and the chances that this could escalate into
a full-blown regional conflict.
Also up for discussion – what happened to the Trump Administration’s
desire to resolve the conflict with Iran diplomatically? What role did the
Netanyahu coalition’s political calculations play in the lead-up to the
attack?

As J Street shared in a statement this morning, “We have consistently
maintained that the best way to address this very real threat is
diplomatically and not militarily, and that remains so today.”
I’ll be joined by my colleague Ilan Goldenberg, who’s spent a significant
amount of his public service career focused on diplomacy with Iran, as
well as J Street Policy Fellows Jen Gavito and Frank Lowenstein, and
Kelsey Davenport, Director for Nonproliferation Policy at the Arms Control
Association.
It has never been more urgent to pull back from the brink. The risk of a
widespread regional war that puts millions of lives in the Middle East in
the crosshairs is not a risk world leaders should ever be willing to take.
I hope to see you today as we tackle this moment. [ [link removed] ]Register here >>
