The harrowing events in Los Angeles are nothing short of state-sanctioned violence. As our commander-in-chief deploys our nation’s armed forces against everyday people, Free Press Action stands in solidarity with everyone opposing the Trump administration’s racist white-nationalist agenda, and we will continue monitoring the use of federal forces to surveil, harass and intimidate protestors and journalists exercising their First Amendment freedoms.

After scapegoating immigrants and siccing ICE on communities of color across the nation — and calling for the arrest of California Gov. Gavin Newsom — Trump aims to cement his dictatorial aspirations with an overwhelming show of force and power. Tomorrow, tanks will roll through the streets of our nation’s capital to celebrate his birthday and demonstrate absolute loyalty to him alone. Free Press Action is joining with hundreds of allied groups to turn his mockery of our nation’s ideals into a series of protests across the entire country. Our democracy is in decline, but it is still worth fighting for.

“No Kings Day” is a national day of action with events happening in communities across the country. There are over 1,800 events on the map already, but if you don’t see a rally near you, you can even sign up to organize one.

* WHY: Trump is abusing our government for his self-serving needs, culminating in tomorrow’s ostentatious military parade for his birthday. We must show that people across the country reject his authoritarian goals.

Trump’s total seizure of power is an ongoing constitutional crisis that we must reject, but
this will only work if we get as many people in as many communities as possible to participate. Can we count on you?
