Tomorrow, around 6:30 p.m., tanks will roll down Constitution Avenue in Washington, D.C. The official reason? To mark the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States Army. But we all know what’s really happening.

This is President Trump’s big birthday parade—the one he never got during his first term. He’s using this anniversary as an excuse to put on a show of strength, to play the tough guy, while actively undermining the very democracy our military has fought to defend.

It’s a waste of time. It’s a waste of resources. It’s an insult to the men and women who wear the uniform and to the generations who came before them. And honestly, with everything Trump is doing right now, we can’t think of anyone who deserves a parade less.

But, like it or not, this parade is going to happen.

While Trump spends millions of taxpayer dollars on this unnecessary spectacle, we are working tirelessly—entirely volunteer—to promote democracy, transparency, and responsible leadership.
