Dear Democrats,

In case you haven't seen it yet, Senator Alex Padilla, the first Latino elected to the U.S. Senate from California, was assaulted at a Department of Homeland Security press briefing today.

This assault on Senator Alex Padilla has sent a violent message to all of America: If you dissent against Donald Trump and openly disagree with the government, then you are not safe in our country. To Trump - constitutional rights don't matter — if you ask questions or disagree, if you stand up to Trump and Kristi Noem’s abuse of power, then government thugs may be sent after you.

New Mexico Democrats refused to be silenced - there's too much at stake. We're working closely with community stakeholders to organize across New Mexico because we believe authoritarianism is fundamentally un-American. 

If you believe that New Mexico needs a strong Democratic Party to fight back against Trump and GOP unprecedented abuses of power, please chip in whatever you can to keep us afloat. Any amount helps, and monthly recurring contributions help the most. 

Trump bypassed the authority of the sitting Governor of California — the first time in about 60 years that a president has done so — and sent National Guard troops and US Marines to antagonize protestors in California.

We can't let Trump keep getting away with silencing free speech with violence. Please stand alongside the NM Democrats.
