Friend,
Last week, Donald Trump announced a drastically expanded travel ban that will bar hundreds of millions of people of color from entering the United States.
NILC will always stand in solidarity with the immigrant communities that these bans unjustly target. We’re asking people from all walks of life to push back forcefully against this discriminatory and unlawful ban by calling on your members of Congress to cosponsor and pass the National Origin-Based Antidiscrimination for Nonimmigrants (NO BAN) Act. Trump’s ban prohibits people from 19 different countries from traveling to the United States.
We should call this for what it is: a xenophobic ban that targets Black and Brown communities. Families will be torn apart. U.S. citizens and green card holders will be unable to reunite with their loved ones. Even emergency travel to visit a dying relative would be denied.
Moments like this remind us why public resistance is critical, friend. When Trump issued his first Muslim Ban in 2017, thousands of people protested at airports to demand justice for those detained or turned away. The national outcry sparked a movement, galvanized communities, and sent a clear message: we won’t stay silent in the face of cruelty.
Now, as similar threats resurface, we must show up again — louder, stronger, and more united than ever.
Together, we must call on our members of Congress to stand up for our immigrant neighbors. One immediate step they can take is to cosponsor the NO BAN Act, which would limit overly broad executive authority used to issue travel bans like this one.
Take action now: Urge your members of Congress to cosponsor the NO BAN Act >>> ([link removed])
If they’ve already cosponsored the bill, you can urge them to take the next step and bring the bill to a vote.
Thank you for making your voice heard,
