I joined hundreds of transit riders, advocates, and everyday Pennsylvanians in Harrisburg last week with a clear message: No matter where you live, you deserve access to public transit.

I represent communities in northern Allegheny County where folks rely on the bus to get to work in the city, grab groceries, or take their kids to a ballgame. And I’ve heard from so many of you: service cuts and fare hikes would hit hard.

Pittsburgh Regional Transit is facing a $117 million budget shortfall. If we don’t act, we could see up to 41 bus routes eliminated — a 35% cut in service.

That’s why I introduced a new plan in the Senate to fund public transit by asking rideshare and car rental companies to pay their fair share. It’s part of the Transit for All PA package, and it could raise more than $500 million a year to keep buses running and expand service where it’s needed most.
