Dear John,

At a time when Muslim American students are being silenced on campuses, Islamophobia is on the rise, and ICE raids continue to threaten the safety and dignity of our families, we cannot afford to sit and watch on the sidelines. Next weeks June 17th primary election in Virginia is our opportunity to send a powerful message: our community is watching, organizing, and voting for justice. Who we elect Tuesday will shape the policies that impact us for years to come.

That’s why Emgage Action is proud to endorse Dr. Babur Lateef for Lieutenant Governor and Jay Jones for Attorney General. Dr. Lateef has long championed equity in education and fought to ensure all students, including Muslim students, feel seen and safe. Jay Jones is committed to restoring trust in our legal system, standing up against discriminatory enforcement, and protecting civil liberties for all communities. These leaders understand the urgency of this moment and have the courage to act.

We must vote not just for ourselves, but for our children, our neighbors, and our future. Let’s show that the Muslim American vote is strong, informed, and unshakable. Make your plan to vote on Tuesday, June 17th by visiting vote.virginia.gov to check your registration, find your polling place, and get all the information you need inshallah.

Your Brother,

Mohamed Gula, Virginia State Director
