Urge Governor Newsom: Take this deal that will save transit! |
Last week, we asked riders to call their legislators’ offices to demand that they reject Newsom's cuts to transit services. Our demands were successful! Yesterday the legislative leadership put out response to Governor Newsom's proposed budget and they: - Rejected Newsom's proposed $1.1B in transit service funding cuts
- Proposed providing $750M in loans to Bay Area transit agencies to prevent immediate service cuts.
Now, this proposal goes back to Governor Newsom, and we need him to take this deal and sign it this week. Use the script linked below as a guide to call Governor Newsom and demand that he accepts the Legislature’s budget deal. Be sure to submit this form when you're done so we can keep track of how many people are speaking up! Be sure to call TODAY, before the final budget is proposed on June 15. |

Volunteer opportunity TONIGHT, to tell Mayor Lurie to keep Market Street car-free!
On April 10th, Mayor Lurie announced that Waymo will begin using Market Street beginning this summer. This announcement made a week after the SFMTA Board of Directors cut five Muni lines on Market Street. The Mayor's announcement has opened a pandoras box to private companies like Uber and Lyft who want access to Market Street and are planning to deploy their vehicles using the same loophole that allows Waymo on the corridor, upending the 20+ years of advocacy that made Market Street car-free and transit-first.
SFTR is part of the Keep Market Street Moving alliance which is hosting its first flyering event. Details: Date: Wednesday, June 11 Time: 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm.
Location: Meet up at the SF Bike Coalition office (1720 Market Street) Meet us at 5 pm for a quick training session before we disperse to let fellow Muni riders know about the Mayor's plan and ask them to speak up against it. |

Updates on the survey: - The survey will close on June 30, 2025, and winners will be contacted on July 7, 2025.
