Cliff’s Note: They Cheer Traitors but Attack Immigrants
Let me get this straight, Charlie Kirk, you unauthorized Mr. Potato Head ripoff.
In America, one can waltz down Main Street waving a Confederate flag—the literal banner of armed rebellion against the United States—and not only will no federal agents come for you, you may get a wink and a nod from your local Republican congressman.
But wave a Mexican flag in Los Angeles—a city whose very name is Spanish, in a state that was once part of Mexico—especially during the siege Trump unleashed on the city, and suddenly it’s a a free round of jackboots and tear gas for anyone with this flag? Is this the argument you’re making, Charles?
Because, it’s not just hypocrisy. It’s fascism in broad daylight.
Now I get that after many grueling hours of laborious study and physical torment, during those two separate stints as a community-college dropout (bone spurs, was it?), you think you got this, Charlie. Like Clarence Thomas got to the head of the line the moment of the release of the digitally remastered Long Dong Silver collection.
But, for argument’s sake, what if there were people who aren’t as dumb as a syphilitic doorknob who disagree with you, Charles? Because they successfully made it somewhere beyond Sean Hannity’s education level?
To begin with, let’s not pretend the Confederate flag is some misunderstood “heritage” symbol. It represents most murderous act of treason in American history.
Over 600,000 Americans died because a group of white slaveholders wanted to keep their human property, and fooled the motley MAGAs of their day to fight and die for the top 1% of rich white, lazy racists to keep their slaves. Sound kinda familiar?
So it’s sad, but not really surprising, that MAGA rallies are filled with Confederate cosplay—and the same people who scream “LAW AND ORDER!” are fine with antebellum regalia. Some of these Low-T losers even fund it. Hell, some of them ARE it.
But go ahead and wave the flag of your Mexican ancestors while you’re protesting in a majority-Latino city, and suddenly you’re some kind of an “invader.” A “threat.” A “target.”
Because, the physically repulsive ratfucking in which these Confederate Republicans are engaged in Los Angeles isn’t, in the slightest bit, about law. And it sure AF ain’t about order. It’s about pure, unadulterated power—and who gets to have it and, in Trump’s case, wield it against their foes.
It’s about reminding people of color who may have momentarily forgotten that a whole lot of white people in this country—not all, but, still, way too many—will always treat them like outsiders. Even after their families have lived among us for multiple generations.
It’s the goons in the body armor with the armored vehicles sent by Trump who fit a classic definition of “invaders.” Those bleached and blotty true outsiders are all about using federal muscle to intimidate dissent and criminalize pride in your own culture.
If it sounds familiar, it should—it’s the same playbook authoritarians have used around the world. And are using right now, from Trump’s boss in the Kremlin to Turkey’s Erdogan, from Orban in Hungary to Xi in China. They aren’t what you’d call creative types, it’s a pretty standard set of rules.
Weaponize fear. Silence opposition. Paint the Other as the enemy.

This ain’t hard: waving the Mexican flag is not treason. It is the very opposite actually, if you’re cerebrally whole enough to do that whole critical thinking thing. This is pride in your family, your friends, your group, which is completely consistent with loving the United States of America.
Have none of these fourteen-words inhaling, ICE asshats ever been to a soccer game? I mean, they can’t all be held on the same nights at their Klan bakes.
Protesting injustice is not illegal, you calcified colostomy bags, it’s what we’re supposed to do in a free society. Dissent, as they say, is the highest form of patriotism. It is the very essence of the American experiment.
Even if regurgitated human thumb, Tom Homan—and when I say regurgitated, I’m not talking immediately, I’m pretty sure that dipstick spent a solid 12 hours as a gallbladder resident—is such a vicious prick he doesn’t have the slightest what America is about. We do.
And as long as we have a Constitution—and as long as people like us are willing to fight for it — this kind of racist, authoritarian thuggery will not go unchecked. You want to defend America? Start by defending the people who actually believe in democracy enough to stand up for it in the streets.
Not those power-humping shape-shifters who never understood America and would persecute is people or overthrow its government in a heartbeat. All while porting around their little Confederate flag participation trophy.
So the next time some Republican near you claims to be a member of the party of “freedom,” show ‘em a video of federal agents attacking peaceful protestors in California with chemical weapons, rubber bullets and batons. Ask why they didn’t flinch when a Confederate flag was paraded through the U.S. Capitol as they wiped feces on the walls. But they bring along a fucking tank to use on a teenager holding a Mexican flag.
This isn’t about patriotism. Or anything in the same universe as that concept. It’s about power — and who the Trump’s doughy dolts think deserves it. And I promise you this: they’ll learn soon enough. We’re not going anywhere.
