Right now, the Department of Labor is preparing to pause operations at Job Corps centers across the country, including right here in Georgia. I led a bipartisan letter signed by 199 members of Congress urging the Department to reverse this decision and continue the Job Corps program.

Job Corps works. It gives nearly 20,000 young Americans each year, many of whom are out of school and out of work, a second chance through career training, technical skills, and real pathways into good-paying jobs.

From manufacturing to shipbuilding, to apprenticeships and the military, Job Corps gives young people purpose, structure, and opportunity — and we need more of that, not less.

As companies bring jobs back to the U.S., we need a workforce ready to fill them. Job Corps is uniquely positioned to prepare that workforce — and cutting it now would be a mistake we can’t afford.
