Trump just deployed the military into California.
Not to restore order. Not to protect people.
But to crush protest.

And I can’t pretend this is just political anymore.

My son serves in the California National Guard. In Los Angeles.
Earlier this year, he helped during the wildfires—protecting people and
homes, helping rebuild, and serving his state with honor. Months later, long
after he was deactivated, he still returns to Altadena to help the community.
He’s that kind of kid, and you can imagine how proud I am of him.

This is different. This is personal. This is terrifying.

He didn’t enlist to be used as a pawn in a president’s authoritarian game.
He signed up to help people. To serve his community. To serve his
country—just like I did 36 years ago.

This is what fascism looks like:
Leaders treating dissent as war.
Deploying troops to intimidate, not protect.
Wrapping violence in flags and slogans while democracy bleeds out beneath it.

I founded Daily Kos 23 years ago to fight this very thing. And we’re not
backing down now.
