Submit a workshop proposal for the 46th NPH Affordable Housing Conference, happening at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis on Friday, October 3. Your contributions to our conference continue to strengthen and deepen our collective work toward housing justice!

Deadline: Wednesday, June 18 at 11:59PM

🗓️ Upcoming Training: State Budget Outlook

 

As state budget negotiations continue to unfold throughout June, we’re getting ready to dive into key implications ahead for our work as housing advocates. Join NPH’s Emerging Leaders Peer Network (ELPN) on Tuesday, June 24, 12-1PM for State Budget Roundup – Funding Outlook for the Coming Year, a timely and engaging virtual training on California’s state budget outlook and what it means for affordable housing.

 

🏗️ Upcoming Briefing: Potential Alameda County Funding Measure

 

Continued investment is critical to meet the moment and scale of affordable housing need in our communities, which is why we're partnering with East Bay Housing Organizations (EBHO) and St. Mary’s Center to host a timely virtual briefing on the future potential for an Alameda County affordable housing funding measure.

You can choose to attend one of the following briefing dates:

This briefing will include findings from a recent EMC Research poll that surveyed likely voters in Alameda County to assess the viability of a potential revenue measure to support affordable housing priorities throughout the county.

Please note that you must be an NPH and/or EBHO member to attend this briefing. (Join or renew your NPH membership either through individual membership or organization membership. 👋 Welcome Andrea to the NPH Team!

 

Join us in welcoming our newest staff member, Deputy Director, Andrea Salas!

Andrea Salas (she/her) will help guide NPH’s internal operations and long-term strategic direction. A former affordable housing resident and granddaughter of farmworkers, she brings a strong personal and professional commitment to housing equity. Andrea previously served as Deputy Director at the California Coalition for Rural Housing, where she modernized operations, secured funding, and expanded programs serving tribal, rural, and farmworker communities. She holds a Sociology degree from Sacramento State and is pursuing her MBA at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.

🔆 Board Member Spotlight: Shola Olatoye

 

We’re taking a moment to spotlight the NPH Board and the role that they play in helping move our work forward. Join us in celebrating Shola Olatoye, Chief Operating Officer at Eden Housing and current NPH Board President!

When asked about the importance of taking the role of Board President, Shola shared: “It’s important to me that NPH continue to be a sustainable and relevant force shaping and driving important housing policy issues in California. As Board President, I am motivated by the opportunity to support and shape the future of the organization, ensuring that it remains effective, sustainable, and aligned with the needs of the communities we serve. Yes, it’s about creating a highly effective and nimble organization AND making a lasting, positive impact on our communities.”

LISC Bay Area: LISC Faith & Housing Program Applications are now open for the next LISC Faith & Housing Program cohort. This free, year-long training program is designed for faith-based organizations seeking to explore and/or develop affordable housing on their land.

Merritt Community Capital Corporation: Merritt Job Demand Study Merritt is in the process of conducting a Job Demand Study, designed to assess industry hiring needs, identify skill gaps and training priorities, and help inform the design of workforce development initiatives. The survey should take about 5 minutes. After responses are collected, the findings will be compiled into a report that will be shared with industry partners.
