Every day this June, it feels like something unprecedented is happening.  From the Trump/Musk breakup to today, the news is full of stories of attacks on our values and our democracy.

But there’s one alarming story we want to make sure you don’t miss.  Last night, the New York Times reported that President Trump’s political team is urging Texas Republicans to take “ruthless” action to stay in power.  They’ve discussed the possibility of redrawing Congressional district maps, which could help Republicans gain up to five seats.

We know a thing about these Democratic gains.  This campaign is one of them.  In 2018, Lizzie and several candidates in Texas fought hard to win Republican-held seats in Congress.  They turned out Democrats all across the state, helping candidates state-wide.  And, as you know, Lizzie and Colin Allred won those seats—helping win the House majority and meet the moment.

We know what it took to win this seat, and we know why winning it and giving Texans the representation they deserve was and is so important.  We are not giving it back.  Certainly, not without a fight. 

We don’t usually say this, but we need your help right now.  Here is why: We know what it takes to fight and to win.  Right now, it takes resources to respond to this threat and to demonstrate to the people pushing this terrible idea that overwhelming support for Lizzie and candidates like her will shrink their majority in Congress, not grow it.

Together, we can make this plan backfire.  We can remind the Republicans not to mess with Texas again.  We can show why Lizzie and other Texas Democrats are representing our communities and our values in Congress today.  But we can only do that if we have the resources to talk to people, to fight back in all the ways we need to, and to win what could be very tough elections next year.
