At the Young Center, we are listening to and learning from activists at the forefronts of the movement for Black lives and racial justice and ending police brutality. We've also raised our voice in support of the movement, shared resources with our teams across the country on how we can stand in solidarity with victims of police violence and their families, and uplifted Black organizations and advocates. Last week, we joined more than 600 organizations in calling on the United Nations Human Rights Council to convene a special session on police violence and repression of protests in the U.S. This Friday, our staff will be off work to celebrate Juneteenth by joining rallies, participating in community action, and taking time to heal. This issue impacts all of us: our staff, families, community members, and the Black immigrant children we serve who are exposed to the trauma of police brutality before and after their time in government custody.
