Hi friend,

In this week’s edition of the Patriot Weekly, I want to give you an overview of an important local win we delivered here in the Hudson Valley, as well as highlight the comprehensive anti-corruption agenda that I just introduced (with several colleagues) in Congress.

This month is also National Gun Violence Awareness month. I hope you’ll take a moment to reflect on the impact gun violence has had on our country, and especially our kids. I’d love to hear from you about this too. Send me an email at [email protected] with your thoughts.

What's going on

Hudson Valley

[link removed] [[link removed]] What I’m doing: For more than 2 years, Orange County families have been at risk of a devastating dam collapse that would severely damage homes, businesses, and infrastructure. Today, our community is still feeling the impacts of the devastating 2023 flood. That’s why I’ve kept up the fight for infrastructure funding to both fix the damage and ensure we are better prepared for floods in the future. This is a monumental investment not just for Woodbury, but also the entire Orange County community. By building back the Earl Reservoir Dam and increasing its resilience, countless families will be spared from widespread damage and fallout from a future storm. I’ll keep pushing to ensure everyone in our Hudson Valley community gets the relief they deserve. What you can do: Every week, I use the Patriot Weekly to share updates on what I am doing and opportunities for you to get involved. I don’t have an ask of you in relation to this project. This week I am just happy to share the good news and highlight our local wins! Thank you for your support at the local level.New York

[link removed] [[link removed]] What I’m doing: June marks Gun Violence Awareness Month. I filmed a short video with Rep. Lucy McBath to highlight gun violence awareness and express why I’m wearing orange in honor of victims of gun violence this month, which you can watch here. [[link removed]] I’ll also be joining events in the district to honor those we’ve lost to gun violence and draw attention to this issue.

What you can do: Communities across the country are participating in Gun Violence Awareness Month with events of their own. I would encourage you to find an event and attend locally. One resource for finding events is connecting with your local Moms Demand Action chapter. They have an event finder on their website, which you can check out here. [[link removed]]Washington

What I’m doing: For too long, politicians in both parties have put their own gain ahead of what’s best for the American people. I’m working alongside a group of next-generation lawmakers who refuse to accept the status quo. This week, we launched our agenda to clean up D.C. and End Corruption Now. Our agenda lays out a series of bills that would help root out corruption in Washington: No more getting rich off trading stocks. Banning Members of Congress from becoming lobbyists. Getting rid of kickbacks for politicians’ billionaire friends. Our comprehensive reform would ensure politicians serve the people, not themselves.

What you can do: This agenda includes a comprehensive list of bills aimed at rooting out corruption, including the Closing the Revolving Door Act, the No Corporate Crooks Act, the Stop MUSK (Millionaires Using Service for Kickbacks) Act, and more. I would encourage you to call your representative and tell them to back this legislation as a co-sponsor.

[link removed] [[link removed]] Coming out of the 2024 election, Democrats have been trying to understand how we can do better about reaching people where they are. People are consuming news in different ways from different sources, like podcasts. As we try to tackle the different ways we’re talking to people, I’ve taken a specific approach: Going to these platforms directly to share my vision and have real conversations with people. That’s why I recently joined the “Find Out” podcast to discuss a host of topics, including my record of service, what our path forward is, and why there is so much mistrust in our system now.You can check out some of the clips here [[link removed]] , here [[link removed]] , and here [[link removed]] .

Keep the faith, keep up the fight, and thank you for reading!

In Solidarity,

Pat
