Email from Rep. Gonzales Leading the Way This week, I had the privilege of speaking at the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute's (CHLI) Future Leaders Conference. I know what it’s like to overcome challenges and serve with purpose. Thanks to vital organizations like CHLI, we’ve made incredible progress in empowering young Hispanics' involvement in public service. The future is bright! PICTURED: Congressman Gonzales with CHLI members Restoring Law and Order I fought in two wars to defend our freedoms, including the right to protest peacefully. What we are seeing unfold in Los Angeles is anything but peaceful; it's lawlessness and anarchy. We will not tolerate harm to our law enforcement personnel and the decimation of America's cities. I fully support President Trump’s call to send in the National Guard into LA. I raised concerns regarding how the FAA tracks the number of drones in U.S. airspace at any given time and what steps are being taken to address potential threats. Acting Administrator Rocheleau stated that when it comes to drone detection, the FAA is in close coordination with the Department of Homeland Security. However, he admitted there is currently no way to know exactly how many unmanned aircraft are in U.S. airspace on a daily basis. Click here to watch Congressman Gonzales' questioning of Acting FAA Director Rocheleau. On Friday, President Trump signed an executive order to build upon efforts to protect U.S. airspace from threats, like drone activity. This is an important step in the right direction. Keeping our airspace secure from drone-related risks must remain a national security priority. I’m committed to working with my colleagues in the House to ensure foreign espionage and military threats do not go unchecked. Improving Veterans’ Mental Healthcare Access Mental health matters—our veterans often return from service with scars we can't always see. This week, I joined fellow veterans and advocates in Washington to find ways to improve care for the men and women who defended our nation. A big thank you to the Grunt Style Foundation team for organizing this week’s roundtable on Capitol Hill and tirelessly advocating on behalf of our veterans. As Congress works through our budget, strengthening healthcare for our vets is a top priority. Follow @RepTonyGonzales on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
