John,
Charter is cozying up to Trump with MAGA-style rhetoric -- to push through a corporate power grab that threatens affordable internet for millions.
Charter Communications and Cox are trying to merge into a $34.5 billion broadband behemoth. If approved, this merger would create one of the largest internet and cable giants in the country -- slashing competition, driving up costs, and putting even more power in the hands of a few corporations.
And now, Charter is using MAGA-style messaging to curry favor with Donald Trump. Charter’s press release says the deal "puts America first by returning jobs from overseas" and that it will yield "powerful benefits for American employees, customers, communities, and shareholders."
And the rhetoric doesn’t stop there. Again promising to “onshore jobs from overseas to create new, good-paying careers for US employees,” Charter claims the merger will be “protecting the security of US communications networks from foreign threats."
We can almost hear the J6 Prison Choir singing the “Star Spangled Banner.” Charter is betting that using this language will get them what they want from the Trump administration -- which is why the FCC must step in and stop this merger now.
Tell the FCC: Reject the Charter-Cox merger. Stop MAGA-fueled corporate consolidation. Defend fair, affordable internet for all.
For millions of Americans already stuck with slow, overpriced service, the merger would be disastrous: fewer choices, higher bills, and even worse customer service.
For rural communities, low-income families, and communities of color, it threatens to widen the digital divide and lock people out of basic opportunities for education, healthcare, employment, and civic life.
If allowed to go through, this merger would strengthen monopoly control over broadband access, lead to layoffs and job losses, drive up prices for consumers, and leave vulnerable communities even further behind.
And now, Charter is turning broadband access into a partisan tool. It’s cynical and dangerous. The FCC has a clear legal duty to block any merger that does not serve the public interest. This deal fails that test -- on every level.
The clock is ticking. This deal could close within weeks unless we raise our voices now.
Tell the FCC to block the Charter-Cox MAGA Mega Merger now!
Thank you for speaking out for digital equity -- and against corporate power plays dressed in partisan loyalty.
