John, I know the fight for voting rights is tough.

It’s easy to become disheartened when year after year the GOP blocks voting rights legislation at the federal level.

But, I have fantastic news for you: States can also pass voting rights laws.

California, New York, Oregon, Virginia, Connecticut, Washington, Minnesota and Colorado have all passed voting rights laws in response to the federal attacks on voting rights.

In those states, voting rights activists and organizers fought and won. They made voting more accessible, equitable, and easy!

I know the road ahead is difficult, but never forget that you have power. If you can’t make change at the federal level, try calling your State Representatives or attending your city council meeting. Use your strengths to advocate for change you believe and eventually, you will succeed.
