John,
Once Upon a Hill, authored by Michael Jones, recently wrote a profile on Shontel’s leadership in the House. We wanted to make sure you saw it:
In the post, Michael praises Shontel for using her voice, life experiences, and ability to connect with people to lead the Democratic response to the nation’s largest-ever cuts to SNAP and other critical programs.
As Shontel’s predecessor, Marcia Fudge, said, as quoted in the profile, “She's out there fighting the good fight, and I believe that her voice just gets stronger and stronger, because she fights for what is right. It's never about herself. It is about what is right for the people.”
Before we share more, will you rush $5 to support Shontel’s work to hold MAGA Republicans accountable for prioritizing billionaires over everyday hardworking people?

When Shontel was a kid, she remembers hating cold cuts, despising pancakes for dinner, and her family relying on food stamps while managing her childhood epilepsy.
However, her experiences then are what fuel her fight for Americans now. Roughly one in five residents in Shontel’s district live below the poverty line, well above the national average of 12.5 percent and Ohio’s statewide average of 13.3 percent. That is why, as the second-ranking Democrat on the House Agriculture Committee, Shontel took a lead role in her party’s response to the SNAP cuts.
As she stated, “People need to know that they have representatives who share their experiences. Some people get the impression that we’re all Ivy Leaguers and we all come from rich families. I want people to know I am not that. I grew up in the hood. I have real-life struggles that some of my constituents are still dealing with today.”
Shontel has the courage, grit, and determination to fight for her constituents in Washington. She is standing up for her people and not letting the GOP’s actions go uncontested.
