Dear friends,

On Tuesday evening, we held our annual general assembly. During the meeting, our 2024 activity report was reviewed (and approved!), highlighting a year full of impressive wins for press freedom that were made possible thanks to you. Here is a brief summary of what you helped us achieve:

The year was marked by victories for journalism, from the liberation of Congolese journalist Stanis Bujakera on 19 March, to the release of Julian Assange in the United Kingdom on June 24, to the emancipation of Burundian reporter Floriane Irangabiye on 16 August. RSF campaigned on all fronts to ensure the freedom of these journalists.

The NGO also launched several major projects that have helped uphold press freedom worldwide: the opening of a Press Freedom Centre in Beirut, the launch of The Propaganda Monitor — a resource to expose and counter Russian propaganda — and a new project to support Myanmar journalists.

Here are some key figures from 2024 that we would like to share with you:

What’s more, in 2024, RSF increased its budget and diversified its sources of funding. This exciting development is vital in order to sustain — and amplify — our work.
