John, on April 2nd, Trump announced sweeping new tariffs under the banner of “Liberation Day” — a political stunt that has directly increased prices for working families, farmers, and small businesses, right here in southern New Mexico.

Ever since that day, Trump has impulsively imposed massive import taxes on almost every country in the world without congressional approval — driving up the cost of food, killing jobs, and threatening the industries that keep rural communities running.

But here’s the good news: A federal court just blocked Trump’s tariffs.

Trump tried to sidestep Congress and impose sweeping tariffs with zero accountability — putting working families on the hook for his political agenda. But the courts just sent a clear message — Trump can’t rewrite the rules of our economy on a whim.

Southern New Mexico feeds the country and powers our state’s economy. We need leaders who will protect jobs and strengthen rural communities — not ones who gamble with livelihoods to score political points and leave the people who elected them in a constant state of uncertainty.
