Dear John,
The name of Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” twists the English language to Orwellian extremes.
“Big” it may be, but “Beautiful” – only if you find beauty in the gutting of the social safety net that protects Americans’ health and security.
This One Big Ugly Bill is, in actuality, a full-scale attack on working families, public health, and our economy.
It passed the House by just one vote. Now it's facing strong headwinds in the Senate, as some Republican Senators recognize how much it will hurt their own constituents. Other Republicans are expressing outrage over how it will add nearly $2.4 trillion dollars to the national debt, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.
That was all before the Muskrat started throwing his tantrum and demanding Republicans kill the bill or face possible primaries from the world’s richest man.
We now have a critical window to stop this bill before it becomes law.
If enough of us speak out now, we can push the Senate to reject this disastrous bill and start over with a new budget that protects the programs millions rely on to survive and thrive.
Send a direct message to your Senator today and demand they do the right thing for the country and reject the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” now.
How bad is this bill? Here’s a few lowlights:
-
It guts Medicaid by imposing harsh work requirements that would strip health coverage from millions – nearly 8 million Americans, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office – including parents, older adults, and people with disabilities. This is despite the fact that most Medicaid recipients already work or face barriers to employment.
-
It slashes food assistance by cutting over $30 billion from SNAP, putting the food security of nearly 40 million Americans at risk, including low-income children, seniors, and veterans who depend on this critical support to get through the month.
-
It strips funding from Planned Parenthood and other health clinics that provide cancer screenings, STI testing, and contraception to millions – further undermining reproductive health and basic care.
-
It hands billions in tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy and big corporations, reviving previous Trump-era tax loopholes that would let billionaires pay lower rates than teachers and nurses – all while adding nearly $4 trillion to the national debt over the next decade.
It all comes down to a massive disaster for the American people – even before Elon Musk came out and called it a “disgusting abomination.” We could have told him that months ago.
Send a message to your Senators to reject the “One Big Beautiful Bill” now.
Thank you for standing up for the American people by sending your message today.
