Legislative Updates
Statement on DOJ Suing Texas Over In-State Tuition
The U.S. Department of Justice is suing Texas over its law allowing undocumented students to receive in-state tuition. This policy was signed by then Gov. Rick Perry more than 20 years ago. This lawsuit is meritless, cruel, and vindictive. This is a disappointing action from an administration that doesn’t care about anyone but billionaires.

Statement on Abbott Ending In-State Tuition
On June 4, Governor Greg Abbott decided to end in-state tuition in Texas. This is backdoor legislating by cowards and Abbott and Paxton are refusing to defend the law enacted in 2001.

Letter to Secretary Hegseth Defending Joint Base San Antonio
This past Tuesday, I sent a letter to Secretary Hegseth urging him to establish Joint Base San Antonio as the headquarters for the proposed consolidated Western Hemisphere Command. This comes after Secretary Hegseth’s memorandum that would direct the consolidation and relocation of U.S Army North and U.S Army South into a single Western Hemisphere Command at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
