Our last rainforests are being torched for profit at a record-breaking
rate. Now, Germany and France want to scrap an EU-law that would have
helped put an end to this.

Let’s call on Chancellor Merz and President Macron to be champions for
human rights and environmental protection. In these times where
life-saving laws are being canceled everywhere, we need Europe to remain a
beacon of hope:

John,

Europe’s demand for cheap commodities like soy and beef is scorching the
planet’s rainforests. Now, Germany and France want to ditch the EU supply
chain law that would have put an end to the climate-wrecking sell-off of
our planet. We need to stop them!

A breaking report shows how we’ve lost primary rainforests at the rate of
18 soccer fields every minute last year, mostly through massive forest
fires. We need bold action in order to stop the torching of our planet –
and Europe to champion holding ruthless companies accountable for their
deforestation and human rights abuses.

The EU supply chain law is a milestone in sustainability: Let’s send a
global call to Germany’s newly elected chancellor Merz and France’s
president Macron now. They must not give in to big corporations and their
short-sighted greed for profit. Join our urgent call:

[ [link removed] ]Merz & Macron: Save the EU supply chain law – protect our planet’s
future!

When the EU supply chain law - officially called the Corporate
Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) - passed last year, it was
a huge victory for human rights and environmental protection. The
ground-breaking law requires corporations big and small to clean up their
global, often complex supply chains and prove their products are ethically
sourced. From a t-shirt made in Bangladesh to soy from Brazil, it would
ensure there is no deforestation or slave labour in the products we buy
every day.

But in the past months, as if to follow the global trend of dismantling
environmental laws, more and more head of states have called on revisiting
this law that was *years* in the making, all in the name of “less
bureaucratic burden for the economy”. And now, after Italy, France and
Germany are even demanding the EU commission to scrap it entirely.

The truth is: The majority of big European corporations actually support
this law - from Bayer to BMW. It’s the laggards who are whining and bet on
the wrong horse who are pushing the decision makers to ditch the
directive.

We cannot let that happen. France and Germany are two of the strongest
economies in the EU. Instead of giving in to the corporate lobby, we need
them to champion protecting our planet’s future by defending this
life-saving law and help Europe stay a beacon of hope for the world. Join
our urgent call now:

future!

Our community played a huge part in helping this law pass the EU
Parliament and Commission. Together we signed petitions, sent messages to
MEPs, and mobilised people to the streets. Let’s do it again, to defend
this crucial law.
