I stand with our region’s climate advocates and youth leaders to demand what’s long overdue: polluters paying their fair share. If you profit from environmental damage, you should pay for the repair. The Polluters Pay Climate Superfund is progressing through the state legislature to hold Big Oil accountable, fund projects that combat climate change, strengthen resilience, and support disaster response. These are investments that will protect Californians and fund solutions that build affordable and sustainable communities.

BUDGET MODIFICATIONS

Tomorrow marks the final FY26 Budget Review Committee meeting —another opportunity to provide input before the full City Council is scheduled to adopt the budget on June 10. You’re invited to join us in Council Chambers, online, or by phone.

GET WILDFIRE WISE

Fire safety is a top concern across San Diego, including Del Mar Mesa. Residents are invited to the first meeting of the Del Mar Mesa Fire Safe Council, a new community-led group focused on wildfire preparedness. The Council will share its goals, highlight local fire risks, and provide practical tools to help protect homes and families. Speakers will include experts from San Diego Fire-Rescue, Altadena fire survivors, and a home hardening specialist.

Meeting Details:

  • Date: Wednesday, June 11, 2025

ACCESSIBLE COASTLINE

San Diego’s beaches must be accessible to all. That’s why Councilmember Campbell and I allocated funding to replace Freedom Trax and Access Trax devices at Mission Beach and La Jolla Shores. Now, wheelchair users can once again navigate the sand and reach the water. Thank you, Parks and Recreation’s Therapeutic Recreation and AgeWell Services, for bringing this to our attention and for supporting a more accessible coastline.

THE REC REVIVAL

Excited to share that the Ocean Air Community Recreation Group (CRG) is being reestablished. This community-led group will help shape the future of local parks by reviewing proposed changes, providing input on the annual recreation center budget, and serving as a forum to discuss park-related issues. This marks the first time that the City restarted a previously existing CRG. The group will represent Torrey Hills, Carmel Valley south of the 56, and Del Mar Mesa. This is a great step forward in giving our communities a stronger voice in how our public spaces are maintained and improved. Stay tuned for details on the first meeting.
