Yesterday, we warned you about some
of H.R. 38's serious problems as it's currently drafted.
We want to be clear: H.R. 38
doesn’t itself criminalize carry. The problem is, H.R. 38 contains
many dangerous loopholes that anti-gun states and cities can use to
get you arrested, imprisoned, and stripped of your rights for life --
unless we fix the bill first. As it stands:

H.R. 38 requires you to carry both a
government-issued ID and carry license at all
times while armed. Forgot your wallet at home? Leave your purse in the
car? That could put you at risk of a felony!
- H.R. 38 allows state and local governments to ban carry on all
public property. All. Public. Property. Even if it's unmarked. Drive
or walk into one of these "gun-free" zones? You could be prosecuted as
a criminal -- unprotected by H.R. 38!
- H.R. 38 protects one handgun and
one magazine (and only the ammo loaded into
them). Have any extra mags, ammo, or a backup gun? A loose round in
the range bag? That could mean jail time, or worse!
Make no mistake: We need Congress to pass strong nationwide
carry legislation so President Trump can sign it. But first, we need
them to FIX and PASS H.R. 38 — so
innocent people aren't arrested and prosecuted for exercising their
Second Amendment right to bear arms.
