Happy Pride, John,

Each year in June, Delaware Democrats celebrate our state’s beautiful and resilient LGBTQ+ community. At a time when the news is filled with attacks on LGBTQ+ rights, we are proud to stand firm in the fight for equality and inclusion. Nobody, whether in Delaware or nationwide, should face discrimination because of who they are or who they love.

While we celebrate this June, our LGBTQ+ neighbors are facing an unprecedented attack from Republicans, both nationally and in state legislatures across the country. Misinformation and hateful rhetoric have been weaponized to roll back hard-won rights and protections. Worse, they are intentionally targeting vulnerable groups, including LGBTQ+ youth and the trans community. Now more than ever, we cannot waver in our fight to protect the LGBTQ+ population. 

While Pride month is a celebration, its roots as a riotous protest should serve as a constant reminder that our work is not over, and we must continue to support candidates who will champion this fight. 

This June, please join us in celebrating how far we have come, while re-committing yourself to the hard work ahead in defending equality, dignity, and freedom for our LGBTQ+ community.
